"Arangold Kennels" were established in 1973 when Margaret and David purchased their first Golden Retriever. We pride ourselves in producing dogs that conform to the Breed Standard while also having the ability to work as gundogs, in obedience, in agility, as rescue dogs, as Guide Dogs for the blind and as loyal family pets. Dogs we have bred have excelled in all these fields as well as winning consistently in the show ring through out the world.
Margaret and David are located on the outskirts of Christchurch, New Zealand on 6 acres which is fenced to allow our dogs the freedom to run and play to their hearts content. Luckily in New Zealand we do not have snakes or other nasty creatures that can hurt our dogs so they bound through the long grass, dig holes and generally be 'dogs' in between shows.
At Arangold we are not colour prejudiced, our dogs come in every colour permissable ranging from deep gold to pale cream. We consider each to be beautiful in their own right and firmly believe that 'a good Golden cannot be a bad colour' as long as it is within the British Standard.
Over the years we have imported dogs from the UK, Europe and Australia to broaden our genetic base with many of these imports forming the basis of other successful Golden Retriever Kennels in New Zealand.
Our dogs at Arangold/s have taken over 22 speciality Golden Retriever BEST IN SHOWS many RBISS and many more speciality CCs. Add to this our success in the all breeds ring too, and it makes for a long and successful history in the breed.
On this website we wish to share with you pictures, pedigrees and information about our dogs and dogs we have bred.
We also want to be an informative site to help archive and pass on over 40 years of knowledge and information, to both the prospective puppy owner and the long time breeder. It is a continuous work in progress to add more information.
We have included progeny information, peer reviewed literature and information about not only the dogs in our homes in Christchurch, but also those that now live in family homes with others but are shown by us, jointly owned with us or who are still part of our breeding lines.
Please, go surf and enjoy! If you have any questions, please contact us
